The AKJU is located in Chillicothe, Ohio and was founded by Soke Donald R. Madden. Soke Madden opened the first Ko Sutemi Seiei Kan Karate Dojo in 1958 after his service in the military teaching traditional karate and ju-jitsu. All though this is an American organization its roots are Okinawan. Since 1958 this organization has continued grow each year and has grown to over 200 clubs across the United States and around the World. Soke Madden began his training as a young boy learning ju-jitsu from his father, he had no idea that one day he would organize one of the largest and most respected Martial Arts Organizations in the World. "AKJU Team America" gives many competitors the opportunity to travel and compete internationally. The "AKJU" is a non-discriminating organization open to all styles and ranks allowing them the same opportunities while remaining within their own Dojo system or Federation. For many years the "Ko Sutemi Seiei Kan" has been feared for its prowess in the ring and respected for the expertise of its members. The "Seiei Kan" has indeed been widely recognized by the world as a leader in the Karate Circuit. Ko Sutemi Seiei Kan Karate stresses in strong hip motion and is recognized by it's fast hand techniques and the expertise displayed by it's members. Ko Sutemi: Success by any means. Karate Do....The way of many Japanese and Okinawan martial arts. One name, one Japanese style martial art, several divisions, federations, styles, branches and schools of Karate Do.

What do you learn in karate class? You learn how to defend yourself by using numerous techniques
involving the hands, arms, elbows, knees and feet. You learn how to block an opponent's
attack and immediately counter attack with a variety of techniques including grappling
(take down) techniques. You learn proper stances and movement. You develop incredible
balance, agility, quickness and stamina all of which will help you in your day to day
living. Karate is not just self defense training, it's training for life. What we teach: But most importantly, KARATE DOES NOT! teach us how to fight. We should only use our karate training for defense only or when the physical safety of those around us would depend on our knowledge and application of the techniques we learn.
